Southern Railroad is stabilizing roadbed by injecting sand into subgrade in two different ways; on basis of experience to date, both methods are producing excellent results. Aug n 8 p 803-805; Description of "blasting-and-sanding" method as developed and used on Washington division. Sept n 9 p 915-917: "Sand-pile" method, developed and used extensively on Western lines of road is described.
