French Railways use so-called doubly elastic rail fastening consisting of rail sole made of grooved rubber, and elastic sleeper clip in form of hairpin; new type sleeper (so-called SL sleeper) widely used in France and exported to various countries consists of steel angle crosspiece with folded ends to which concrete blocks provided with sleeper clips are fastened; sleeper of this type can be manufactured by totally mechanized and automated technique.
