Question discussed whether existing tracks can be modified to allow heavy train traffic at high speeds employed on Italian railroads; in project considered number of U-shaped reinforced concrete supports are added to ballast and rail; welded joints are preferable; horizontal concrete members run parallel to rail and are designed to prevent displacement of ties; sectional drawings.
