Development in Germany of structures able to withstand impact stresses occurring in ship operation to some extent as steel ships, while their freight carrying capacity was only slightly smaller; concrete ships developed include motor tankers of 3770 tons, steamships of 3650 tons, freight barges of 1160 tons and motor cargo ships of 337 tons.
