Four similar general cargo ships Makefjell, Hemsefjell, Ternefjell and Oris, built by John Brown and Sons, Sunderland for Norwegian owners; length oa 258 ft 7 in.; breadth extreme 42 ft 3 in.; depth molded to main deck 17 ft 9 in.; propelled by North Eastern reheat triple expansion engine with cam operated poppet valves and supplied with superheated steam by two oil fired Scotch boilers, providing steam at pressure of 220 psi.
