Full face of Norfolk and Western Railroad tunnel near Bluefield, WVa, is being drilled from four level jumbos mounting 15 rock drills for boring 210 holes in 36 × 35 ft tunnel face; holes, varying from 3 to 18 ft in depth, are loaded with 1800 lb of 40% glycerine dynamite; 700 cu yd of muck has to be removed after each shot; horseshoe shaped tunnel will have concrete lining from 18 to 24 in. thick inside 8 in. steel liners.
