Problems and solutions for transporting extremely heavy equipment for power plant that is major feature of Bureau of Reclamation's Columbia Basin Project in Washington; permanent handling equipment to lift and convey 2000-ton rotors for 600,000kw generators, 500-ton turbine runners, and other large and heavy equipment components within power plant; railways carry loads to 300 tons, provided clearance requirements can be met; oversize components are transported on special trucks or by combination of barges and special land equipment; investigation was conducted to determine adequacy of bridge spanning existing spillway to carry loads to 350 tons.
