As part of new marshalling concept adopted by Swiss Federal Railways, train marshalling is being concentrated on few, well-equipped marshalling yards; simultaneous marshalling was adopted as means of keeping layouts and operating apparatus within reasonable limits; sorting scheme in connection with simultaneous marshalling, based on triangular series of numbers was adopted for planning of yards and offered advantages to railroad operation; possibilities for operative application of program in cybernetic system "freight traffic" are discussed.
