Report of study based on approach to formulation of wave-resistance of thin ships by G.Birkhoff, B.V.Korvin-Kroukovsky, and J.Kotik (1954); transformation of Michell integral led to separation of integrand into two functions, one depending only upon hull form parameters and other upon ship speed and draft; thus, it offered possibility of better mathematical definition of physical relationships between hull form and resistance; also, it appeared that Birkhoff-Kotik transformation would lead to simplifications in numerical work; this is shown to be so.
