Theories which have been put forward concerning causes of humps and hollows in curves of resistance plotted against speed for ships and their corresponding models, wave profiles generated and resistance experienced by very simple form as calculated in case of perfect fluid; similar results for second form in order to estimate effect of form on conclusions reached.
