Development of transmissions and power train in high speed military track laying vehicles is discussed; various power train systems in current use are analyzed; basic aim in design is to shape new hulls around smallest practicable power package of engine cooling system, transmission, and steering and brake system; by including steering and braking in transmission unit much hull space can be saved and subsequently used for installation of more powerful engines.
