Self-adaptive techniques have been shown capable of adjusting parameters of flight-control systems to provide rigid-body stability in face of changing control effectiveness with flight condition; research done and review of some interesting results; following techniques are described -- rate-gyro blending, tracking notch filters, multiple sensors, model-reference/implicit systems, and rigid-body separation, all of which show some promise for stabilizing aircraft, missiles, and re-entry vehicles; it is indicated that model-reference/implicit approach might be combined with rate-gyro blending and tracking-notch-filter approaches.
