System which crew member could use, in emergency, to safely return to earth is described; astronaut, after activating his life support system, is ejected from station; operation of space parachute system which consists of retro-rocket, expandable re-entry structure, life support unit, survival provisions, and communications beacons; when expanded, re-entry structure is blunted cone with base radius of 12.5 ft, nose radius of 10 ft, and semivertex angle of 45°.
