Interlocking, including color-light signals for directing train movements over crossing with South Chicago line of Rock Island, at Oakdale, replaces combination of signal protection, including manually operated crossing gates as well as interlocked dwarf signals; new plant permits elimination of stops for 78 trains daily, and provides safety features impossible with former arrangement.
