Research problem. If the automated adhesive filling in the line of board edge bonding is unavailable, the operator has to stop the line and perform manual filling. This results in considerable downtimes, due to which businesses incur losses. Automation of glue filling procedure would allow businesses to reduce downtimes and to save a considerable portion of their profit, which is now lost due to idle times of machinery. Research object. A unit of adhesives of the plate edge banding line at the company Germanika AB. Research aim. To develop the project for automation of adhesive filling in board edge bonding machinery. Research methods. Analysis of scientific literature, document content analysis, catalogue analysis. Conclusions. Technological, automation and communication schemes have been developed. Necessary equipment (pneumatic cylinders, pneumatic distributors, volume level sensors, electromagnetic cylinder position sensors) has been selected for the automation of adhesives unit. A list of signal distribution has been made to show which inputs and outputs are used in PLV controller; control algorithm and control software in FBD language were developed. Maintenance, environmental and human safety instructions have been made in addition to the economical part for the project realisation.
