The applications of the field of robotic are immeasurable in the day to day life. Simultaneously scientists are taking giant strides in the field of robotics so as to implement robots in every aspect of our daily routine. One such application of robotics is for pipe line inspection robots. Pipelines have become an indispensable part of transportation of liquids and gases. Henceforth they require regular inspections and monitoring; however, implementing these tasks gets quite expensive using traditional methods since pipelines are generally deployed in highly inaccessible areas. Therefore, in this thesis the author proposes a cost effective and environmentally friendly way to perform these tasks. The main focus of this thesis is to design a wall press caterpillar type robot which would autonomously route itself inside the pipeline and inspect the pipeline for cracks.
