Studies of characteristics of urban traffic flow are important for improving urban road traffic. In order to study the characteristics of traffic on urban roads, scholars have studied car following behavior at home and abroad, but lane changing behavior requires further research. On the basis of summarizing the classification of vehicle lane changing, this paper puts forward the demand of lane changing on the urban section according to selection characteristics of the traffic flow route of the urban road segment, and divides the city roadway section into the turning lane changing and random lane changing. This paper proposes and establishes a more general and reasonable approach to a lane change model on urban roads. The model was simulated by MATLAB and uses SPSS to analyze the validity of the vehicle lane changing model.
