Chinese big cities are facing severe traffic congestion problems and urban taxis are often underutilized and vacated by seats. Vacant seats can be made full use of in taxis by achieving efficient carpooling patterns; decreasing the number of taxis used is a method of mitigating traffic congestion. This paper attempts to establish a dynamic carpooling system based on time windows and path optimization. Real-time reservation mode refers to that the interval between traveler's reserving time and boarding time is quite short, requiring the carpooling system to give a rapid and flexible response and make efficient matching. The model constructed in this paper includes the detailed principle and logic composition, and main formulas. More research is needed to achieve specific programming and applications.
