Intercity carpooling is gradually emerging, helping alleviate intercity traffic during holidays. Promoting intercity carpooling during holidays is rarely seen in the current research. In this paper, the data of RP/SP survey is used to analyze the travel behavior of intercity carpooling. The multinomial logit model is established to research the key factors affecting passengers’ choice behavior of carpooling. Results show that intercity carpooling passengers have obvious characteristics in travel distance, number of companions and process of finding carpooling vehicles. Gender and monthly income significantly influence the choice of carpool A, which travels directly to a destination city, but not on the choice of carpool B, which stops at a city along the way to pick up other passengers. Travel distance, stop time of carpool B, fee discount of carpool B and the departure date delay of railway significantly influence the choice of two carpooling modes.
