It is known that highly-porous aluminum alloys and honeycomb structures are used as shock absorbers in landing devices and other elements of spacecraft. The paper presents the results of studies that allow us to estimate the mechanical properties and shock-absorbing characteristics of highly-porous aluminum alloys and honeycomb structures made of aluminum alloys with an initial average density of 190 to 2250 kg/m3. The basics to calculate the specific and effective energy of shock absorption are given. The model shock absorbers for the characteristic stages of the deformation diagrams are shown.
