In many locales fuel volatility is not based upon the accepted CRC test procedure. A field test of 153 cars shows that a part-throttle vapor lock procedure is an acceptable method of setting gasoline volatility specifications. Supporting evidence indicates that commercial vehicles are no more limiting than passenger cars in hot fuel handling problems.
