A design approach to determine type-III controller parameters which offer better transient and steady-state responses is discussed in this paper. The presence of right-half-plane-zero (RHPZ) in the control-to-output transfer function in Boost and Buck-Boost Converters poses a severe challenge to the controller design for such converters. Traditional design methodologies such as Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) or K-factor method to find optimum controller parameters and hence optimum performance is time-consuming and tedious, moreover, these techniques are not always practical when it comes to dealing with worst-case RHPZ scenarios. In this paper, we presented how controller parameters can be mapped directly with the system parameters with the required condition of fulfilling certain stability criteria such as gain margin, phase margin, and slope around the gain crossover frequency. The design procedure and simulation results are presented.
