This paper presents a new approach to the development of an Automatic Vehicle Identification System (AVIS). The proposed AVIS is developed in such a manner that it can differentiate between the number plates of different countries and provide tracking for foreign vehicles in the country. The proposed AVIS system has two major modules, vehicle image preprocessing and license plate feature extraction. Indian vehicle license plates have been used to test the proposed AVIS system's ability. The surveillance system counts the number of vehicles, detects moving vehicles, and recognizes them for the validity of vehicles' permits with the organization. License Plate Recognition (LPR) is used to match the detected vehicle's information to an existing database to ascertain whether it is legitimate, registered with the national border, and attached to the vehicle at the appropriate location across the nation. To facilitate the implementation of a transboundary vehicle recognition system, the research findings provide policymakers, border control officials, and technology players with critical information. The importance of deploying state-of-the-art technologies to improve border security and expedite the tracking of cross-border vehicle movements is highlighted by these findings. In addition to strengthening border control measures generally, the suggested method seeks to promote effective data exchange among adjacent nations and enhance regional collaboration. This technologically advanced strategy promotes a smooth transition to a global transportation network that is more secure and linked.
