To provide a vehicle recognition device capable of recognizing a vehicle even when a reflection wave of electromagnetic waves radiated from a radar cannot be sufficiently obtained from part of a vehicle.SOLUTION: A vehicle recognition device 30 specifies a distance from a radar 20 to a stationary object in all the directions of radiation of electromagnetic waves in scanning based on a reflection wave, specifies a position of reflection points P11 to P14 that reflect the electromagnetic waves in a distance near to the stationary object than the radar based on a distance and the reflection wave in all the directions of radiation, specifies a common reflection point group G3 belonging to a common vehicle C among the reflection points to specify a weak reflection direction whose intensity of the reflection wave is smaller than a threshold value, specifies a continuous direction continuing to the direction of radiation of the electromagnetic waves to the common reflection point group among the weak reflection directions, and supplements weak reflection points P21, P22 assumed to belong to a common vehicle in the continuous direction with the common reflection point group based on an assumption such that a profile of a vehicle on a radiation plane of the electromagnetic waves is rectangle and the common reflection point group to prepare a vehicle point group.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 26

    【課題】レーダから照射した電磁波の反射波が車両の一部から十分に得られなかった場合であっても、車両を認識することのできる車両認識装置を提供する。【解決手段】車両認識装置30は、反射波に基づいて走査における電磁波の全ての照射方向において、レーダ20から静止物までの距離を特定し、全ての照射方向における距離と反射波とに基づいて、レーダから静止物よりも近い距離で電磁波を反射する反射点P11〜P14の位置を特定し、反射点のうち、共通の車両Cに属する共通反射点群G3を特定し、反射波の強度が閾値よりも小さい弱反射方向を特定し、弱反射方向のうち、共通反射点群への電磁波の照射方向に連続している連続方向を特定し、電磁波の照射平面における車両の輪郭が矩形であるとの仮定と共通反射点群とに基づいて、連続方向において共通の車両に属すると推定される弱反射点P21,P22を共通反射点群に補填して車両点群を作成する。【選択図】 図26
