Autonomous vehicles are becoming more and more present in our lives day by day. With the developing artificial intelligence technology, driverless vehicles are on the agenda. However, people are not yet open to the idea of leaving the control of a vehicle to a digital system. Although one of the goals of autonomous vehicles is to greatly reduce traffic accidents, make vehicles available to every person and integrate them into daily life, the fact that these vehicles can be hacked or various security vulnerabilities can be found and private information can be stolen shakes people’s trust in autonomous vehicles. Autonomous vehicles have their own levels. These levels show the amount of increase in the autonomy level of the vehicle. In the near future, it is aimed to produce and launch Level 5 autonomous vehicles, i.e. fully autonomous vehicles. As autonomous vehicles evolve over time, so do the cyber security measures taken with them. Thus, their proliferation is becoming easier day by day. As cyber-attacks become more and more common, they are more likely to jeopardize human safety. People who initially thought that cyber-attacks would not be a problem have discovered over time that they can be a serious problem. It is well known how important it is to take various security measures due to increasing cyber-attacks. However, the security measures to be taken can only be estimated to a certain extent. The lack of a system that can be used as a last resort is felt. In this study, we present an emergency button solution that will disable all systems of an autonomous vehicle in a two-stage manner in case it is hacked. Thus, it is aimed to increase people’s trust in autonomous vehicles and to prevent hacking incidents or minimize the damage that can be caused.
