The present invention relates to a hybrid vehicle and a control method thereof, for improving performance of a battery in a low temperature environment. The control method of the hybrid vehicle according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises the following steps of: confirming a temperature of the battery; confirming a state of charge (SOC) of the battery; selecting any one of a first shift mode corresponding to a standard shift map and a second shift mode corresponding to a shift map, which is corrected to generate an area with low motor efficiency in at least a part of the standard shift map, based on the battery temperature and the state of charge; and performing gear shift according to the shift map applied to the selected mode.

    본 발명은 저온 환경에서 배터리의 성능을 개선하기 위한 하이브리드 자동차 및 그 제어 방법에 관한 것으로서, 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 하이브리드 자동차의 제어방법은, 배터리의 온도를 확인하는 단계; 상기 배터리의 충전 상태(State Of Charge, SOC)를 확인하는 단계; 상기 배터리 온도와 충전 상태에 기초하여 기준 변속맵에 대응되는 제1 변속 모드 및 상기 기준 변속맵의 적어도 일부 영역에서 모터 효율이 낮은 영역이 발생하도록 보정한 변속맵에 대응되는 제2 변속 모드 중 어느 하나를 선택하는 단계; 및 선택된 모드에 적용되는 변속맵에 따라 변속을 수행하는 단계;를 포함할 수 있다.
