The present invention relates to a traction machine for an elevator including an eddy current brake which reduces a falling speed of an elevator by suppressing rotation of a rotor in an emergency situation in which electricity is blocked. According to the present invention, the traction machine for an elevator comprises: a motor including a rotor and a stator and transmitting a rotation force through the rotor; a pulley installed on the rotor and hanging an elevator car on a hoist rope so that the elevator car performs an up-and-down motion; a brake mechanically contacting the rotor in accordance with an electrical signal to stop rotation of the rotor; and an eddy current brake suppressing the rotation of the rotor by a friction force generated by mechanically contacting the rotor by using an eddy current generated in the motor in the emergency situation in which the electricity is blocked.

    본 발명은 와전류 브레이크를 포함하는 엘리베이터용 권상기에 관한 것으로, 전기가 차단되는 비상상황에서 회전자의 회전을 억제시켜 엘리베이터의 추락 속도를 저감시키기 위한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 엘리베이터용 권상기는 회전자와 고정자를 포함하고 회전자를 통하여 회전력을 전달하는 전동기, 회전자에 설치되며 엘리베이터 카를 권상로프에 매달아 상하운동을 하도록 감아주는 활차, 전기신호에 따라서 회전자에 기계적으로 접촉하여 회전자의 회전을 정지시키는 브레이크, 및 전기가 차단되는 비상상황에서 전동기에서 발생되는 와전류를 이용하여 회전자에 기계적으로 접촉하여 발생되는 마찰력으로 회전자의 회전을 억제시키는 와전류 브레이크를 포함한다.
