The purpose of the present disclosure is to obtain an electromagnetic brake device and an elevator hoist that can suppress impact when a movable iron core collides with a fixed iron core without large-scale modification. The movable iron core (32) is provided with an iron core main body (44), a pair of divided iron core pieces (45) and a displacement mechanism (46). Each of the divided iron core pieces (45) is displaceable between an approaching position and a separating position. The displacement mechanism (46) makes the divided iron core pieces (45) close to each other when the iron core main body (44) is located at the first position, and makes the divided iron core pieces (45) far away from each other when the iron core main body (44) is located at the second position.
