The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a cross member for a vehicle, and a cross member for a vehicle manufactured thereof. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the method of manufacturing a cross member for a vehicle comprises: a step of preparing a first molding member and a second molding member; and a step of friction-stir welding a joining target portion of the first molding member and the second molding member, wherein the first molding member is manufactured to include twining-induced plasticity including an austenite matrix structure, thereby capable of manufacturing a cross member with excellent yield strength and impact resistance.

    본 발명은 차량용 크로스 멤버 제조방법 및 이에 의해 제조된 차량용 크로스 멤버에 관한 것이다. 한 구체예에서 상기 차량용 크로스 멤버 제조방법은 제1 성형부재 및 제2 성형부재를 마련하는 단계; 및 상기 제1 성형부재 및 제2 성형부재의 접합 대상부를 마찰교반 접합하는 단계;를 포함하며, 상기 제1 성형부재는 오스테나이트(austenite) 기지조직을 포함하는 쌍정유기소성(twinning-induced plasticity) 강을 포함하여 제조된다.
