The present invention provides an automatic emergency braking system and a control method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the automatic emergency braking system performing an automatic emergency braking control to perform at least one of a collision risk alarm and emergency braking comprises a vehicle speed detection part, a pedestrian position detection part, a pedestrian information storing part and an electronic control unit. The vehicle speed detection part detects a speed of a self-driving vehicle. The pedestrian position detection part detects the position of a pedestrian. The pedestrian information storing part time-sequentially stores the position of the pedestrian, detected by the pedestrian position detection part. When the position of the pedestrian, detected by the pedestrian position detection part, is located in an alarm area in front of the self-driving vehicle or a braking area, the electronic control unit receives vehicle speed information detected through the vehicle speed detection part and pedestrian position information detected through the pedestrian position detection part to calculate a collision time in accordance with a relative distance between the self-driving vehicle and the pedestrian and a relative speed.

    자동 긴급 제동장치 및 그 제어방법이 개시된다. 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 자동 긴급 제동장치는 충돌 위험 경보와 긴급 제동 중 적어도 하나를 수행하는 자동 긴급 제동 제어를 수행하는 자동 긴급 제동장치에 있어서, 자차량의 차속을 검출하는 차속검출부와, 보행자의 위치를 검출하는 보행자위치검출부와, 보행자위치검출부에 의해 검출된 보행자의 위치를 시계열적으로 저장하는 보행자정보저장부 및 보행자위치검출부를 통해 검출된 보행자 위치가 자차량의 전방의 경보영역 또는 제동영역에 위치한 경우, 차속검출부를 통해 검출된 차속정보와 보행자위치검출부를 통해 검출된 보행자 위치정보를 입력받아 자차량과 보행자의 상대거리 및 상대속도에 따라 충돌시간을 산출하고, 보행자정보저장부에 저장된 보행자 위치의 시계열적인 변화로부터 보행자의 이동궤적을 추적하여 산출된 충돌시간이 경과한 시점에서의 자차량에 대비한 보행자 상대위치를 예측하며 예측된 보행자 상대위치에 따라 자동 긴급 제동 제어를 수행하는 전자제어유닛을 포함한다.
