To suppress deviation between vessels in timing for state of power transmission mechanism to change over to reverse connection state in switching delay process to reverse connection even when a vessel propulsion control system is applied to a plurality of vessels with different vessel lengths.SOLUTION: A vessel propulsion control system has a simulation vessel speed calculation unit calculating simulation vessel speed by multiplying the engine speed under conditions where the vessel is proceeding in a propeller following state by a throttle valve in completely closed state and a state of the power transmission mechanism continues a proceeding connection state, by the scale conversion coefficient SC, which corresponds to the estimated ship length, and reduces the simulation vessel speed based on gradient data. A shift control unit switches a state of a power transmission mechanism from a non connected state to a reverse connected state after waiting for the simulation vessel speed to be simulation vessel speed threshold or less when the simulation vessel speed is not the simulation vessel speed threshold or less when the position of the operation unit is changed to the reverse position after being changed to the neutral position from the proceeding position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8

    【課題】船舶推進制御システムを船長が異なる複数の船舶に適用した場合でも、後進接続への切替遅延処理において、動力伝達機構の状態が後進接続状態に切り替わるタイミングが船舶間でずれることを抑制する。【解決手段】船舶推進制御システムにおいて、模擬船速算出部は、スロットルバルブが全閉状態になったことによって船舶がプロペラ連れ回り状態で前進しかつ動力伝達機構の状態が前進接続状態を継続しているときのエンジン回転数に、船舶の推定船長に応じたスケール変換係数SCを乗ずることにより模擬船速を算出し、当該模擬船速を、勾配データに基づいて減少させていき、シフト制御部は、操作部の位置が前進位置からニュートラル位置に変わった後に続いて後進位置に変わったときに模擬船速が模擬船速閾値以下でない場合には、模擬船速が模擬船速閾値以下となるのを待ってから動力伝達機構の状態を非接続状態から後進接続状態に切り替える。【選択図】図8
