To provide a designing method for a tire that is able to reduce pitch noise.SOLUTION: A method for designing a tire is provided. The method includes: a step S1 of determining an arrangement of pattern composing units of a first pattern row; a step S2 of determining an arrangement of pattern composing units of a second pattern row; a step S3 of obtaining a first pulse train in which unit pulses are arranged, from the determined first pattern row; a step S4 of obtaining a second pulse train in which unit pulses are arranged, from the determined second pattern row; a step S5 of obtaining a plurality of kinds of third pulse trains in which phases of the second pulse train and the first pulse train are made different; a step S6 of specifying, among the plurality of kinds of third pulse trains, a third pulse train whose maximum value Fmax of an amplitude Fk obtained by performing Fourier transformation is relatively small; and a step S7 of determining relative positions of the first pattern row and the second pattern row, on the basis of a phase difference between the first pulse train and the second pulse train, applied to the specified third pulse train.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
