To provide an autonomous work machine, an autonomous work setting method and a program capable of communicating with a subject person even if the situation of the subject person and the attribute thereof cannot be grasped.SOLUTION: An autonomous work machine includes: a detecting unit that detects a person present in the travelling direction of the machine; a notifying unit that gives a first notification to the detected person; a reaction detecting unit that detects the reaction of the person to whom the first notification is given; and a control unit which determines whether or not to continue the notification from the notifying unit on the basis of the detected reaction, selects a second notification different from the first notification on the basis of the detected reaction when determining to continue the notification, and causes the notifying unit to give such a notification.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
