To enable appropriate traveling of a crawler belt type traveling apparatus in which two traveling bodies capable of being curved three-dimensionally are joined.SOLUTION: Each of a right traveling body 1R and a left traveling body 1L has: a plurality of base bodies arranged side by side; a connection body connecting adjacent base bodies so that one of the adjacent base bodies is movable relative to the other; and a crawler belt wound around the plurality of base bodies and the connection body. A joining member joins the right traveling body 1R and the left traveling body 1L with a sideways interval therebetween. A detection device 210 detects respective states of the right traveling body 1R and the left traveling body 1L. A controller 240 controls respective operations of the right traveling body 1R and the left traveling body 1L. The controller 240 controls the operation of the left traveling body 1L on the basis of a detection result of the state of the right traveling body 1R and controls the operation of the right traveling body 1R on the basis of a detection result of the state of the left traveling body 1L.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
