To provide a technique capable of attaining reduction of a post-stage signal processing load by appropriately adjusting reception sensitivity when receiving a second uplink signal.SOLUTION: In a light emitter/receiver comprising a transmitter for transmitting a downlink signal and a receiver 43 for receiving an uplink signal which is transmitted from a vehicle in response to the downlink signal, a first detection section 474 of the receiver 43 detects that the first uplink signal is started being received. A second amplification section 491 for amplifying a second uplink signal in the receiver 43 amplifies a received signal of a light-receiving section 45 at a low amplification factor in a case where the detection of the first detection section 474 is not performed, and amplifies the received signal of the light-receiving section 45 temporarily at a high amplification factor in response to the detection of the first detection section 474.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
