To provide a vehicle body component, and a vehicle body structure which are advantageous for design and production cost while securing durability against an axial compression load.SOLUTION: A vehicle body component 4 for a cross member includes an upper surface part 40 extending in a longitudinal axial direction, a pair of side surface parts 41 which extends downward continuously from both sides of the upper surface part and extend in an axial direction, and a pair of flange parts 45 which extends sideward continuously from lower ends of the pair of side surface parts and extend in the axial direction. An interval between the pair of flange parts is uniform as a whole in the axial direction. The pair of side surface parts have a step part 42 extending in the axial direction at an intermediate part in a height direction, and a side surface upper part 44 and a side surface lower part 43 divided by the step part, and includes a width-reduced section in which a width of the step part 42 is gradually reduced toward one end side in the axial direction. A width of the upper surface part and an interval between the pair of side surface parts at the side surface upper part are gradually increased in a section corresponding to the width-reduced section in the axial direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
