To provide a method for manufacturing a pipe material in which there is no possibility such that buckling occurs at an end thereof in a longer direction.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a pipe material 13 comprises: a first molding process in which a metal plate 11 is press-molded into an intermediate molded article 12 which comprises a curved part 12a which has a U-shaped cross section, and in which a line connecting bisector points of the U-shape is curved and an inner side of an arc of a line connecting the bisector points exists on an inner side of a U-shaped bent part 11a, and an extension part 12b which are adjacent to both ends of the curved part 12a and has a U-shaped cross section, and in which a line connecting bisector points of the U-shape is a linear line, or the line connecting bisector points of the U-shape is a curved line with an outer side of the U-shaped bent part 11a as an inner side; a second molding process in which opening ends 12c of the U-shape of the intermediate molded article 12 are brought close to each other; and a pipe-making process in which the opening ends 12c are jointed to each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
