PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device and a vehicle control method capable of appropriately executing a control to avoid a collision based on an absolute speed of an object.SOLUTION: A vehicle control method comprises: calculating, at a vehicle control ECU20, an absolute speed Va of an object, from an own vehicle speed Vs and a relative speed of the object Vr; and performing a collision avoiding control to the object on the basis of the calculated absolute speed Va. The vehicle control method ECU20 comprises: a brake determination part 21 for determining whether or not a brake device 40 of the own vehicle operates during the absolute speed calculation; a calculation part 23 for calculating a present value of the own vehicle speed, after operation of the brake device 40, on the basis of a previous value of the own vehicle speed Va, and an estimated deceleration amount determined according to an estimated operation amount which may be caused by the brake device 40.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】物体の絶対速度に基づく衝突回避制御を適正に実施することができる車両制御装置、及び車両制御方法を提供することを目的とする。【解決手段】車両制御ECU20は、自車速度Vsと、物体の相対速度Vrとにより物体の絶対速度Vaを算出し、算出された絶対速度Vaに基づいて物体に対する衝突回避制御を実施する。また、車両制御ECU20は、絶対速度を算出している期間において自車のブレーキ装置40が作動したことを判定するブレーキ判定部21と、ブレーキ装置40の作動後において、自車速度Vaの前回値と、ブレーキ装置40により生じうる想定作動量を基に定められる想定減速量とに基づいて、自車速度の今回値を算出する算出部23と、を備える。【選択図】 図1
