PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly set a threshold with respect to an output of a contact sensor for use in an operation of a collision object protection device even after an object is moved to the outside of a detectable range by a detection part.SOLUTION: A collision object protection device 10 for a vehicle comprises an on-wheel camera 22 which contactlessly detects an object existing within a detectable range around a vehicle, and a control device 12 for determining a kind of the object on the basis of a detection result by the on-vehicle camera 22. The control device 12 holds a determination result of the kind of the object during a holding period which is decided on the basis of a collision prediction time from a time point at which the kind of the object is determined up to a time point at which a collision between the object which is decided in the kind and the vehicle is predicted, and sets a threshold with respect to an output of a contact sensor 24 for use in an operation of an active device 28 on the basis of the held determination result.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
