PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect abnormality of a pantograph easily.SOLUTION: A pantograph abnormality detection system 1 comprises a light-receiving device 3 and a determination part 4. The light-receiving device 3 is provided so that a specific portion 5 in a collector shoe 21 of a pantograph 2 is included in a light-receiving range 31. An output of the light-receiving device 3 is input to the determination part 4. The specific portion 5 is a portion which becomes high temperature when an abnormality occurs to the collector shoe 21. The light-receiving device 3 has high spectral sensitivity to light of a specific wavelength region, which is emitted in accordance with a chemical or physical phenomenon occurring when the specific portion 5 is in a high temperature state. The determination part 4 determines that an abnormality has occurred to the pantograph 2 when the intensity of the light in the specific wavelength region received by the light-receiving device 3 is equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold value. This allows detection of the abnormality of the pantograph 2, in which the specific portion 5 becomes higher temperature as more light is emitted.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
