PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering gear in which a rudder is not disposed in the propeller slipstream and makes it possible to take a large rudder angle while achieving high propulsion efficiency to achieve the COreduction target, and the rudder can be used for braking the ship while securing steering performance.SOLUTION: A steering gear includes two rudder shafts 40 vertically suspended and supported in a rotatable manner by a bearing 13 disposed in a ship bottom at both sides of a propeller 20 in line symmetry to a screw axial center 12, and a drive mechanisms 50 for the rudder shafts. A rudder blade 30 is divided and configured in three stages. A first plane rotation mechanism 41 around a vertical axis is provided in a leading edge 36 of a second stage rudder blade 32 and a first stage rudder blade trailing edge 35. A third stage rudder blade 33 configures a flap. A second plane rotation mechanism 42 is provided along a trailing edge, in the leading edge and a second stage rudder blade trailing edge 37. A flap drive mechanism 60 is provided for amplifying and converting the rudder angle of the second stage rudder blade into the rudder angle of the flap.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
