PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a magnitude of braking-force responsively in accordance with a rapid braking request without allowing a brake motor 72 to fall into an over load state even when a rapid braking request occurs to a vehicle.SOLUTION: A brake apparatus includes: a motor cylinder device 16, having a brake pedal 12 to be operated when braking a vehicle and a brake motor 72 to be driven in accordance with an operation amount of the brake pedal 12, for generating brake hydraulic pressure by driving the brake motor 72; a load state determination part 213 for determining a load state of the brake motor 72; and a control part for control limiting of a load state of the brake motor 72 within a range not a heavy load state in the case of the brake motor 72 being in a heavy load state. In the case of a rapid braking request occurring to the vehicle, the control part loosens the aforementioned limiting relative to the load state of the brake motor 72 to the range of not exceeding an over load state that is larger than the heavy load state.

    【課題】車両の急制動要求が生じた際であっても、制動モータ72を過負荷状態に陥らせることなく、急制動要求に応じた大きさの制動力を可及的に確保する。【解決手段】車両を制動する際に操作されるブレーキペダル12と、ブレーキペダル12の操作量に応じて駆動される制動モータ72を有し、制動モータ72の駆動により制動液圧を発生させるモータシリンダ装置16と、制動モータ72の負荷状態を判定する負荷状態判定部213と、制動モータ72が重負荷状態と判定された場合に、重負荷状態を超えない範囲に制動モータ72の負荷状態を制限する制御を行う制御部と、を備える。制御部は、車両に急制動要求が生じた場合、制動モータ72の負荷状態に係る前記制限を、重負荷状態と比べて大きい過負荷状態を超えない範囲まで緩和する。【選択図】図1
