This ornithopter is provided with main wings attached to a fuselage, and a control system that controls a flapping motion of the main wings. The main wings are each provided with an inner spar, an outer spar, and a wrist configured in such a manner as to be disposed between the inner spar and the outer spar, and to have a bending angle, which is the relative angle between the inner spar and the outer spar, that varies within a prescribed variation range. The control system is provided with: an actuator that performs an upward motion and a downward motion of the inner spars by moving the inner spars upward and downward; angle sensors that measure the bending angles; and a control device that controls the actuator according to the bending angles so as to cause the inner spars to move.
