The invention relates to a target selection method for an adaptive cruise control system (ACC), and the method comprises the steps: selecting a first target and a second target which are located in a lane and in front of a vehicle from a plurality of targets, and enabling the second target to be in front of the first target; predicting the motion states of the first target, the second target and the vehicle after a certain time; and determining a proper car following target from the first target and the second target based on the motion state. The invention further relates to target selection equipment of the ACC, a computer readable storage medium and an ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance System).
