Comprising the following steps: S1, lowering an unmanned ship to a to-be-measured river channel, and selecting and setting a zeroing direction of a measurement section of the to-be-measured river channel; s2, preliminarily measuring the flow velocity of the to-be-measured river channel by the unmanned ship to obtain a preliminary flow velocity; if the initial flow velocity is greater than the set flow velocity, the unmanned ship selects a drifting method to measure the flow velocity; and if the initial flow velocity is not greater than the set flow velocity, the unmanned ship selects a single-point positioning method to measure the flow velocity. The corresponding measurement mode is selected according to the flow velocity condition of the river channel, the flow velocity of the river channel can be accurately measured according to the flow velocity condition, the whole measurement mode is stable and efficient, and great popularization value is achieved.
