The guide rail centering device can safely and efficiently center the guide rail. A thin wire position detector (1) is provided with: a position detection sensor (11) for detecting the position of a thin wire; a housing (15) that holds the position detection sensor; and a rail clip (16) for detachably fixing the housing to the guide rail of the elevator. The rail clamp is provided with: a Y reference surface (16y) that comes into contact with the rail surface of the guide rail; an X reference surface (16x) that comes into contact with the distal end surface of the guide rail; and a hook section (34) formed at a position facing the Y reference surface. The height dimension of the hook portion based on the X reference surface is shorter than the height dimension of the Y reference surface based on the X reference surface.
