The invention relates to a hybrid electric vehicle, a driving control method thereof, and a computer readable recording medium. A hybrid electric vehicle and a drive control method thereof that increase the amount of regenerative braking more effectively and allow rapid restart during deceleration. According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, a method for controlling a hybrid electric vehicle including a stepped transmission may include prohibiting an operation of a shift when a pre-configured deceleration braking condition is satisfied. The method may further include slip controlling operation of an engine clutch disposed between the engine and the drive motor when operating the accelerator pedal before a stop hold time maintaining the deceleration brake condition exceeds a pre-configured reference time.
