The collision energy absorbing member (1) is provided with: a cylindrical member (3) having a top plate section (5a) and a pair of vertical wall sections (5c) that are continuous from the top plate section (5a) via a corner section (5b); a closed cross-sectional space-forming wall member (9) that is disposed on the inner surface side of the cylindrical member (3) and that forms a closed cross-sectional space at least between the closed cross-sectional space-forming wall member (9) and the corner section (5b); and a resin (11) provided in the closed cross-sectional space, the resin (11) containing a rubber-modified epoxy resin and a curing agent. The tensile elongation at break is at least 2% but less than 80%, the tensile elongation at break is not less than 2% but less than 80%, the adhesive strength with the cylindrical member (3) and the closed cross-section space forming wall member (9) is at least 12 MPa, and the nominal compressive stress at 10% is at least 6 MPa.
