The method comprises the steps that a laserradar scanner is arranged in the center of a cross beam, steering wheels and universal wheels are kept moving towards the two ends of the cross beam of a vehicle carrying robot by the same distance when the cross beam is extended, it is guaranteed that the laser radar scanner is always located in the center of the cross beam, and the position relation between the vehicle carrying robot and a vehicle in the cross beam direction is located; and the position relation of the vehicle carrying robot in the longitudinal beam direction is ensured by adjusting the plane where the laser radar scanner and the axle distance central vertical line are located to be perpendicular to the side face of the vehicle and the cross beam of the vehicle carrying robot, and finally it is ensured that a vehicle carrying robot forklift cannot collide with wheels.
