The invention belongs to the technical field of pipe gallery underwater inspection robots, and particularly relates to a multifunctional propelling mechanism which comprises a hollow frame-shaped fixing piece, a power assembly and at least one propelling assembly connected with the power assembly. The power assembly comprises an underwater motor, the underwater motor is connected with a control module for controlling the underwater motor in a wired or wireless mode, and the propelling assembly comprises a flow guide cover, a propeller shaft arranged in the flow guide cover and connected with amotor shaft of the underwater motor, and a propeller cap connected with the propeller shaft. A plurality of propellers are fixedly arranged on the propeller shaft. According to the propelling mechanism, the power transmission and control of power and the propelling assembly are achieved through the transmission and connection of the transmission mechanism, and steering, advancing and backing control can be achieved.
